Next Level CommUNITY Center
About Next Level CommUNITY Center
Share Necessities established its first brick and mortar facility July 2016, in the heart of South Central, Los Angeles, where many of our children consistently experience hunger, violence, low self-esteem, lack of self-care, low self-worth, thoughts of suicide, anxiety, and deep depression. They often turn to bullying, gangs or drugs to cover their pain or fit in. Share Necessities is a place children can be heard, helped, guided, and protected.
For just over a year, the Next Level CommUNITY Center has brought a sense of hope and peace to what was once at the top of LAPD’s most violent neighborhoods list. We’re grateful for our collaborations with Mayor Garcetti’s office of Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) and other local community organizations. With their support, we have:
- Installed organic garden planter boxes, which commUNITY residents help care for and harvest.
- Hosted monthly gatherings to prepare and share healthy food, listen to purposeful music, practice mindfulness techniques and yoga, and experience love and peace.
- Launched our “I Make It Count” (IMIC) Youth Program, which we have successfully introduced to over 8,000 students throughout LAUSD schools.
Our goal is to continue spreading a message of love and hope. We invite your financial help and volunteer efforts to support these children, who deserve an opportunity to experience positivity, opportunities, and hope!
